Survivors

Life doesn't begin until the over-rated love kicks in,
addiction to a cross paramour,
until some selfless reject has to rescue me from intoxication.
Sniffing glue was a passion to you,
and the loveless?  Those are the ones who undressed
and left clothing in my room.

Expression lined with pain, eyebrows drawn together,
breath rough on my neck, shocks down my back,
and I listen trying to find a reason to stay.

Night after night, names known but hearts hidden.
